Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock

Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock 9 out of 1o Rated T

This series of games I can't really compare to any of the other games I've reviewed. The only thing you can really compare it to is itself and Rockband. Guitar Hero 3 is a good step up from the last. There are some new added features and new types of ways to play. I really enjoyed playing this game. This game is not like real guitar though. I know this because I play Bass Guitar.

The thing that really blew me away was the new part of campaign. Every few setlist you will have to play a guitar battle against a world famous rocker. In this "battle" you will both switch of on amazing riffs until the end in which you automatically lose. To make the opponent mess up you have to earn Battle stars. This is basically star power except you get some sort of a power up. You use these in the same sort of way as star power (by lifting the guitar's neck end up). The battles do take sometime. They can get pretty frustrating. You will face 3 different guitar masters in battles throughout the Career mode. The Rockers are Tom Morello, Saul "Slash" Hudson, and Lou. This Battle is also a game mode in two player.

The Career is pretty good. You travel around preforming shows. There are small cutscenes in which the characters never speak. Most and if not all the songs are not from the 21st century. Most of the song are from the 90's and the 80's. The career is nothing special. The career mode really is just playing new songs. One of the things I like is that there is more well known songs than 1 and 2. The game is great because of the widespread difficulty levels that it has. The game also lets you choose out of a good amount of characters. The game doesn't really change in the way you playt it more just it gets harder (that's what she said) and the songs change. The campaign just can't really be hated on.

The Multiplayer is ok. The game really doen't change except for that you can replay a song now and work on others. The multiplayer doesn't vary from the campaign. I actually find it more fun to play multiplayer. Why you may ask, well I'll tell you. This way I don't have to play the songs I don't like. But, you do have to play the career once through to unlock the songs.

The Rundown:

Pros
-Easy
-Difficulty levels change gradually
-Fun
-Entertaining

Cons
-Not like real Guitar
-Not much varation in game play

Thanks for reading and spread the word about the blog.
